Martha Hardwick Hofmeister - Dallas

Martha Hofmeister has been trying business cases, negotiating agreements, and solving her clients' legal problems in a cost-conscious and efficient manner since 1984. Martha Hofmeister maintains a diverse legal practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. Her clients include a variety of corporations and business owners, including professional service firms, real estate developers, manufacturers, health care companies and financial institutions. Ms. Hofmeister has most recently represented clients in business cases involving claims of negligence, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contractual obligations.

In addition to litigation, Ms. Hofmeister's experience includes providing counsel to businesses in litigation avoidance and employment practices, preparing and reviewing contracts, documenting and conducting foreclosures, and assisting in all types of tactical business decisions. She has been named on the Texas Super Lawyer listing by Thomas Reuters Legal seven times and was selected as one of the Best Lawyers In America by U.S. News and World Report for 2012 and 2013.

Activities

Ms. Hofmeister is active in numerous professional and community organizations and has received regional and national awards for public and charitable service, including recognition from the Federal Bar Association, the American Inns of Court and the State Bar of Texas. Most notably, she received the honorary Distinguished Alumni Award from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law in 2005. She has served, on the local, district and international levels, as an officer, director and committee chair for the Altrusa International service organization since 1986. She has been the director of the Bar None "follies" show, a fundraiser for the Dallas Bar Foundation, since its inception in 1986; Bar None has raised approximately $1.5M for minority scholarships at the SMU Dedman School of Law.

Education

Ms. Hofmeister earned her law degree from The University of Texas, where she was honored with the Prentice-Hall Student Award in Criminal Law and served as a member of the Texas International Law Journal. She earned both undergraduate and master's degrees, with high honors, from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., where she was a National Merit Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa, Sigma Tau Delta and Alpha Psi Omega.
